Leona Smith

Leona Smith nee Powell, 66, of Richton Park, and formerly of Chicago's Grand Boulevard Neighborhood, passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2020. She was born in Helena, Arkansas to the late Arneste Williams and George Powell. Their family relocated to Chicago in 1967 after she graduated grammar school. Beloved wife for 27 years to the late Perry Smith. Loving mother of Perry Powell and Emma Smith. Cherished grandma to Robert Allen and Latraz Griffin. Great grandmother of 4. Fond sister to Georgia (the late Henderson) Thomas, John Powell, Willie Powell, Efie (Mack) Leonard, Ed Powell. Proceeded in death by 8 brothers and sisters. Kind aunt to a host of nieces and nephews and friend to many. Retired bus driver after 17 years of service with Rapid Bus Lines. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
