Alfred Coleman Braden of Elgin, Illinois passed away on March 2nd, 2021. Loving son of the late Frank and Ilene (Tate) Braden, dear brother of the late Sharon (Bruce) Braden Phillinger, Alfred was born and raised in Elgin before relocating to Plato Center to raise his family. He eventually returned to Elgin where he lived until his passing.
Alfred was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the founder of Plato Center Indoor Soccer League. An avid golf enthusiast, he spent many days on the courses of Sycamore and Wing Park. He was also a State Trap Shooting Champion and belonged to the West Chicago, McHenry, and Sycamore Trap Clubs, Sheriff's Mounted Patrol, Cold Duck Snowmobile Club and Snowmobile Rescue. He coached many of his kids teams including soccer, baseball and basketball.
Alfred had a long career with Ace Coffee Bar before becoming the sole proprietor of Braden Trucking.
Alfred is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Shirley Braden, nee Northcutt, his children Debra Busche, Teresa Busche Braden, Cindy Braden, Frank Braden (Kristin) and Victoria Braden, grandchildren Jennifer Speakes Bridgeman, Cassandra Speakes Walter (John), Coleman Braden, Braden Lowitzki, Clare Braden, Lila Nelson, Bennek Braden, Oscar Nelson and his great grandchildren Cole Bridgeman & Brody Bridgeman. He loved hanging with his grandkids including riding the golf cart. He rarely missed a sporting event of his children or grandkids. He was a very proud grandpa and loved watching them play.
