Anita Calkins

Anita (Adcock) Calkins, born on December 10, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on April 2, 2024, at the age of 86. She was a first grade teacher, loving wife and mother, dedicated church member, and generous friend to all. Anita's life was marked by love and service to her family and community. All who knew her appreciated her loving, joyous, and generous spirit.

Anita is survived by her husband, Dick Calkins, her children and their spouses (Chrissy and Jeff Steele, Tad and Julie Calkins, and Kathie and Stephen CalkinsKeyes), 11 grandchildren, her sister Kathy Anderson, brother Stephen Adcock, and sister Barbara Caughran.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 20, with visitation at 1:00pm and service at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines, 8250 NW 62nd Avenue, Johnston IA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines or the PEO Educational Loan Fund. Anita Calkins will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
