Anita Schuberg

Anita Schuberg, 82, world traveler, passed away on March 15, 2023.

Beloved daughter of the late Oscar and Anne. Dear sister of the late James Earl Schuberg. Longtime companion of her soulmate, the late Paul Mann. Anita is survived by her daughter Deborah Saldana Drabant (the late Tim) and her son Dennis (Kathy) Saldana, her grandchildren Julia Drabant (Chris), Valerie Drabant (Elder), Jesse, Evan, Isabella and Sophia Saldana and her great granddaughter Ivy.

Anita traveled the world but as an adult settled in Chicago where she raised her two children.  She encouraged her children in all their endeavors, let them practice their karate moves in the kitchen, lead them in loud singing on road trips and was actively involved in both of their extracurricular activities. As adults, her two children remained close with their mother. Dennis and Anita enjoyed watching movies, either independently or together, and then discussing them in-depth. Deborah and Anita would have deep, emotional conversations where they would solve the world's problems and share their feelings, usually over a meal.

Anita played flute and guitar and as a teenager she played in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She was a teacher for the Chicago Board of Ed., taught at Central YMCA Community College and was employed at University of Illinois at Chicago as an ESL educator for 30 years. She spoke 8 languages and had a television program that aired on CBS for 2 years on Sunday mornings where she taught English. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
