Ann Mary Sipowicz (nee Copperwaite, nee Eaman), 84, of Park Ridge and formerly of Mundelein (Diamond Lake), Illinois, and also formerly of Slough, Berks, in the United Kingdom, passed away on April 22, 2026.Ann grew up in a British factory town near London, England near the end of World War II. She used to tell of memories of going down to shelters to evade Nazi bombs as a small child. She became aware at an early age that she was highly intelligent, and that she wanted adventure. In her 20s Ann met a US service man (Bob Eaman) at the Louvre when she was visiting Paris for a weekend. Six months later Ann took a romantic chance to emigrate to the Chicago (USA) area despite not having a college degree nor any social connections beyond her future husband. When she and that husband divorced less than 10 years later, she had 2 young sons and few connections in a country she was still trying to learn. Ann then landed a secretarial job at Forest (psychiatric) Hospital in Des Plaines. Despite no college degree and no background in psychology, she raised two sons while working her way up the ranks at the hospital. Within 7 years she had remarried to a psychologist (the late Dr. Raymond Sipowicz), and became the Executive Director of the hospital. Ann went on to have a highly successful career. She was well liked in her role, and she pursued wisdom and spirituality with vigor.
In the late 1980s, Ann and Ray moved to a lake house in Mundelein (Illinois), and they led a very happy life for the majority of the rest of their years. They had numerous dogs and cats, and they spent time boating and watching sunsets on Diamond Lake. Ann got to see her two sons go on to get college degrees, become successful, get married and have children. She saw her stepchildren grow, travel, and become loving adults. Ann Sipowicz Ne Copperwaite unfortunately lost one of her sons during the Covid pandemic.
Ann is survived by her son Rob Eaman and his spouse Barbara and their children Theo & Wyatt, by daughter-in-law Katie (of son Rex Eaman) and Katie's daughters Shea and Cara, and by Ann's 3 step-children Mark (Debbie, and their children Louis & Leo), Ahjo, and Lola.
Ann lost a hard battle with Alzheimer's disease at the end of her life. If you are interested in donating to a charity on her behalf, we recommend https://www.alz.org/. To connect with Ann's son Rob Eaman, please email eamanrob@gmail.com.
