Anthony (Tony) Jay Miller died peacefully on the morning of March 27 th at age 62 after a year’s battle with cancer. Tony was born in Elgin Il on March 6 th ,1963, the son of Carol and Leon Miller. He lived most of his life in Elgin IL but more recently lived in MT. Morris IL. Tony married Ellen Perfors at the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren in Elgin. Their beloved son Andrew was born on July 19th, 1988. Tony was preceded in death by his parents Carol and Leon and his true love, his wife Ellen, that Tony longed for until his death. He was survived by his sister Ginger (Ernie)Florence, brother Roger (Sandy) Miller, and nieces Ashley (Joel), Lacy Perfors, Lisa Bruno, Kelly Porter and nephews Todd Florence, Maxwell Miller and Josh Smith and many great nieces and nephews. Tony loved music, talking about music and going to concerts. He was a videographer and roadie for local bands such as Joe Rayfield and involved in the local music scene. He went on tour with Nazareth. He booked many shows at the Blue Moon like Pat Travers, Frank Marino and Albert King. Tony also worked as a videographer for weddings, depositions and bands. Tony had many hobbies including gardening, cooking and candy making. He volunteered for the Soup Kitchen at the Highland Ave Church of the Brethren for nearly 20 years and was the lead chef for many years. Tony also worked for a program in Canada, similar to outward bound after high school. He cherished his friends and family and was always up for a spirited conversation. Following in the ways of his parents, Tony cared about the downtrodden and had a big heart for those who were marginalized.
A memorial service will be held at the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren at 783 W. Highland Ave, Elgin IL on May 3, 2025 from 10:30-1:30. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM, with service beginning at 11:00. Interment of ashes in the Memorial Garden and a light reception will follow. Memorials may be made to the Soup Kettle through Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren.
