Arturo Valdez, 65, long-time resident of Chicago, passed away on January 6, 2024. Arturo was born on February 16, 1958 to Lila and Jose Valdez in Mexico. He worked for many years as the substance abuse programs director at Pilsen Wellness Center. Arturo is preceded in death by his siblings, Bernardo and Rocio, and his father, Jose. He is survived by his daughters, Clarissa (Raj) and Kimberly (AJ) by his marriage to Oliva (“Flash”); his son, Alexis, and his youngest son, Max and his mother, Gina. Arturo is also survived by his four grandchildren, Leila, Danny, Bella, Gianna, and Adrian; siblings, Armando (Dora), Carmen, Leticia (Rafael), Teresa (Ruben), and Carlos (Karrie); mother, Lila, and nieces and nephews, Armando (Camila), Isabel, Andres, Carmen (Paco), Erick (Karen) Ricardo (Wendolyn), Juliette and Sofia in addition to his grandnephews and grandnieces and many loving friends.

“Arturo, you always had a reflective and thoughtful but vibrant look in your eyes as you rode off full speed ahead to explore the vastness of life.”

Arturo was always full of energy, with an unlimited passion for life. He was a risk-taker who would not hesitate to venture out to experience new places and people. He was fond of animals, nature, and anything that inspired beauty. Most of all, though, he loved his family and friends. Arturo retained his positivity and strength even after a stroke changed his life forever five years ago. More than anything, it limited his ability to communicate with others - a skill that had been one of his greatest assets and sources of pleasure. Although Arturo was a very private person who at times appeared reserved, he was warm and caring with his loved ones, all of whom he cherished until the last moments of his life.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on March 14, 2024 at The Mayfair Presbyterian Church, 4358 W Ainslie Chicago IL. from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Refreshments will be served.

Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options in Schiller Park, Illinois.
