Aruna Desai passed peacefully on the night of May 2, 2026. Her life was vibrant, marked by her bold move to the US as a new mother, her selfless work as a schoolteacher, her adventures around the world, and her confident, spirited attitude. Even to those who never had the privilege of meeting her, she was known through amusing stories that are passed on through her grandchildren.

Aruna passed on seven months after her late husband, Vasudev Desai, to whom she was married for 63 beautiful years. They live on in the memory of their three children, Rupa, Avani, and Pankil, as well as their six grandchildren, Braham, Ruchi, Tejas, Shriya, Aria, and Satchin. Aruna was preceded by her parents, Jaya Ben and Dadu Bhai Patel, as well as her two brothers Kanchan and Sashi. She is remembered by her younger sister Vina.
