Benjamin Heimer, born March 23rd 1973, was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. Growing up his Midwest roots placed him in Indianapolis, Grand Rapids MI, Cary and Inverness, IL eventually moving to Chicago as an adult.
Ben's zeal for life landed him many opportunities and genuine friendships along the way. As a young adult, Ben took various jobs as a mechanic and server at Denny's. With time he started his professional career with the Chicago Board of Trade from 1998 to 2008 in soybean futures and wheat futures/options.
He then pursued and obtained an Economics bachelor's degree with a Mathematics minor from DePaul University, Chicago in 2013.
Around that time Ben met the love of his life and wife, Nina. They dated for 4 years before getting married. Together they lived a joyous life of love, travel and discovery.
Ben had a soft spot for animals and rose in rank as a Store Assistant Manager with PetSmart Evanston (Store #427) and PetSmart Niles (Store #1262) in Illinois. He remained a loyal employee for 8 years where he was loved by his colleagues, customers and diverse range of pets.
Ben was a kind, intelligent and generous soul who would give the shirt off his back for another. In one instance he gave a car away to a friend for free. He inspired people to give it their all even if it meant challenging their way of thinking. He simply motivated people out of caritas, inspiring others to self-improve and share that same spirit with others.
As cliche as it may sound, he wanted to leave this world in a better state than when he found it and he did a damn fine job doing so. His remarkable traits and words of wisdom touched many lives he crossed paths with. He was a beautiful soul who chose to not live a life in vain.
He lived life to the fullest, humbly gave more than asked and it is with a mournful heart through his benevolence he will be deeply missed. Ben is survived by his devoted wife of 10 years, Nina, parents Rudy and Naty, mother Carla and fur baby Cleo.
