Bernard H. Yeoman

March 27, 1948 — December 6, 2025

Northfield

Bernard (Barney) H. Yeoman, 77, of Northfield, IL, passed away on the 6th December 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Barney was the devoted father to Kim (Chris), Kevin (Melissa), Brian (Angela), Jamie, Courtney, Chris (Danielle), Michael (Caitlin) and Dan (Melissa). To his grandchildren, Alex, Theo, Connor, Callum, Grace, Kathryn, Maggie, Charlotte, Quinn, Winston, Nigel, Otis, Layla, Isla, Riley, and William, he was a source of endless support, encouragement, and warmth. He was the cherished brother of Bob, John and Harry, and a steadfast friend whose generosity and good humor left an impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on the 27th March 1948 in Erie, Pennsylvania, Barney spent his early years in Wilmette before planting deep roots in the North Shore community he loved. Some of his happiest memories were made at the family cabin in Michigan, where long summer days were filled with simple joys; swimming, sailing, shared meals and time spent with the people who meant everything to him.

Barney’s career revolved around the Chicago Mercantile Exchange where he became a familiar, trusted, and well-loved presence. He took great pride in the work he did; and his loyalty, reliability, and natural warmth earned him respect across the trading floor.

Family was the heartbeat of Barney’s life. He rarely missed a game, concert, or school event, showing up out of genuine joy. Whether cheering from the sidelines, checking in on everyday life or simply being a dependable presence, he gave his family the invaluable gift of being fully present. His love was steady and wholehearted and it will continue to guide those he leaves behind.

Barney’s warmth, kindness and gentle spirit touched many lives. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A private service will be held in the New Year.

Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options in Schiller Park, Illinois.
