Brandon James Benton

April 29, 1982 — June 15, 2024

Chicago

Brandon James Benton, born on April 29, 1982, in Lake Forest, IL, bid farewell to the world on June 15, 2024, in Chicago. His departure was shrouded in a difficult path of adversity beyond words, yet touched our lives deeply with his courage, resilience, and the depth of his spirit.  His  memory will continue to shine brightly through the lives he touched.

Brandon will always be remembered for his unwavering love for family, cherishing the tradition of weekly family Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings. Described as a kind, loving, gentle giant with an Irishmen's heart as vast as an ocean, a tree hugger indeed, a deep depth of faith in The Lord and a profound dog lover, he left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He was wicked smart and an avid read and schooled historian that could hold deep conversations on World War 1, 11 and other global wars (just like his Bapa).  His favorite pastimes were watching a Cubs game, listening and watching documentaries, loved music especially the Grateful Dead, his mom's homemade spaghetti sauce, his dad's home spinach pizza, dirt cake made for every birthday celebration, Muffin his "lil buddy" as he referred to her and the great outdoors.

In his journey life, Brandon held a special place in his heart for his late grandfather "Bapa" Frank Benton and his "Dranners"/grandmother.  He referred to his Bapa as "his hero" - pretty much said this all the time......  As he embarks on his final voyage, he finds solace in the thought of reuniting with his beloved Bapa in eternity as they share their graves together.  Their shared passion for history, the Cubs, carpentry and family will forever bond them even in the afterlife.

Biff (a beloved nickname that stuck to him from birth given by Aunt Amy) is survived by his mother, Linda Benton and father, Brett Wodach.  Biff leaves behind a void that can never truly be filled. While we mourn his earthly departure, let us take solace in the memories we carry of a man who exemplified warmth, compassion, and love.

As we gather to bid our final goodbyes to Brandon James Benton, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved. May his spirit find peace and may his legacy endure through the stories we share and the love we continue to nurture in his honor.
