Carmen Birriel

Carmen Birriel, a caring matriarch, was born on August 26, 1940, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026. Carmen's life was characterized by her loving nature and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of home.

She cherished her time spent at home, where she expressed her creativity and love through cooking for her family. Carmen was a devoted mother to her children, Hector Mendez and Elsa Mendez, and she took immense pride in being a grandmother to Melanie Mendez, Peter Mendez, Delilah, and Wilson Gonzalez. In addition, she found delight in her role as a great-grandmother to Julissa.

Carmen is survived by her beloved sister, Olga Birriel, who remains among her family during this time of loss. She was predeceased by her son, Edward Mendez, and her brother, Victor, along with her mother, Carmen Cruz.
