With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Carol Ann Narup of Evanston, IL, formerly of Winnetka, IL, on October 6, 2025. Born on November 30, 1931, in Chicago, Carol’s life was defined by devotion to family, a zest for life, and an insatiable curiosity that carried her on countless adventures.
She attended Denison University and graduated from Northwestern University, where she met and fell in love with Bill Narup, with whom she shared a joyful 52-year marriage until his passing. She was an astute businesswoman. After raising her children, she embarked on a professional career selling advertising services for her husband’s firm, William J. Narup & Co., and in 1967 made history as the first advertising space salesperson for New Woman magazine.

An intrepid traveler, she visited 155 countries, including remote regions such as Siberia, and was active with the International Visitors Center and the Circumnavigators Club. In 2014, she married Warren “Pete” Petersen, with whom she shared many joyful years.
She is survived by her children, Cathy (David) Westhouse, Scott Narup, and Julie (James) Moore; her grandchildren, Andrew (Nicole Cresce) and Elizabeth Westhouse, and William Moore; and her great-grandchildren, Lillian and Thomas Westhouse.
