Cassandra Miller Mellor

Born August 9 th , 1947, in Portland Oregon to Earl & Virginia (Benson) Miller. She grew up in Oak Park, IL and graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School. Throughout her years she lived in Carol Stream, Batavia, Geneva, Lombard, Darien, and Arlington Heights. After her retirement from Weigel Broadcasting (the U), she could be found cheering on her grandchildren at their various sporting events, shelving at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, or counter-cross stitching something wonderful for a loved one. She often tended to her flower garden or enjoyed a glass of wine on her patio with good company, her baby girl Soxy, and her flowers. She was often seen riding around town in her little red convertible and she never forgot a Birthday or Anniversary.


She is survived by her daughters, Nikki (Tim) Mather of Arlington Heights and Becky (Mark) Hentschel of Elburn, as well as, her grandchildren Cameran and Cooper Mather. Cousins, who were her sisters, Carol (Benson) Puchalski of Lafayette, CO and Joel (Benson) Nelson of Kailua-Kona, HI. Also, her forever friends Doug Mellor, Goleta, CA, Virginia Anderson, Springfield, MO, Roberta Mather, Arlington Heights, IL, and her Blankenship Family (Mark & Julia Blankenship and Carmen, Jonathan, & Bobby Molinaro).


She was the Mom #2, Special Grandma, Aunt, and Dear Friend to many. She was preceded in death by her faithful companion Little Miss White Sox.


A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday August 21 st , from 2:00-6:00pm in her beautiful backyard. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Friends of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, The Preeclampsia Foundation, or JourneyCare.
