Cynthia Dwyer (nee Gaspar), 62, of Lombard and formerly of Elmwood/Forest Park at rest December 29, 2020. Loving mother of Nicole (Shaw) Kiernicki-Pitman and Jason (Sandra) Polinski. Cherished Mama Cindy of Tyler, Richie, Victoria, Haley and Phoenix. Dear sister of Debra (Stephen) Harrison and Tina (Larry) Simon. Fond niece, aunt and friend to many.
As recipient of three kidney donations, Cindy's life was twice extended decades due to families who chose "A Gift of Hope" and donated their loved ones' organs, realizing "Life Goes On." The last kidney was received as part of a donation chain, which spanned several states. This was only made possible by the selfless gift of one single living donor. Many birthdays, holidays, concerts, family dinners and lunches with friends were celebrated with a much better quality of life because of these gifts.
As if kidney failure wasn't enough, Cindy was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the late 90's. In one capacity or another, Cindy spent the vast majority of the last three decades battling for her life. Through countless hospitalizations, surgeries, and near-death illnesses, she never stopped fighting. Although profoundly sadden by her departure from this earth, Cindy can finally rest in peace, pain free, welcomed to the other side by her beloved mother Jeanette Gaspar, whom she missed desperately.
Due to restrictions on gathering in person, a celebration of life will be planned for later this year.
