Daniel McCarthy

Daniel McCarthy, a beloved maintenance engineer with Local 399, passed away on August 8, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on April 5, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, Daniel was a man cherished for his loving and caring nature, always surrounded by friends and family who appreciated his humor and warmth.

A devoted husband to Karen McCarthy for 40 wonderful years, Daniel's legacy extends to his four children: Megan(Kenneth), Matthew(Lara), Sean, and Riley. As a proud father, he was an enthusiastic sports lover, passionately coaching and attending his kids’ sporting events, taking immense joy in their accomplishments and milestones. His unwavering support fostered an environment where love and laughter flourished.

Daniel was also a proud grandfather to Claire, Khloe, Genevieve, Faith and Kashton, who were the light of his life. His relationship with his grandchildren embodied the love he exuded, always providing guidance, encouragement, and infectious laughter.

Throughout his life, Daniel built a strong network of friends whom he regarded as family, a testament to the deep connections he made with those around him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Georgina; father, David; and sister, Gina. They remain in the hearts of those who remember the love they shared.

Daniel McCarthy will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his infectious laugh, and a life lived with purpose. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.

Services for Daniel will be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church 1420 W. Granville Ave Chicago, IL 60660 on Saturday August 23rd, 2025 Visitation from 10-11 Mass at 11am
