Dennis Robert Murphy

On July 16th, 2022 the world was made less by the too soon passing of Dennis Robert Murphy Sr. 60 of Bridgeport, IL, (aka Murph). As we grieve, we are finding comfort knowing he closed this Earth Chapter surrounded by his people and is no longer in pain.  

Loving Son to Shirley A. Murphy, Big Brother and friend to Jacklyn Russ, Brother-in-law to the late William Blattner, Proud father of Dennis Jr. Rosado and Kelly & Joey Stoffle. Grandfather of Destiny Bingaman-Fritz and Adriana Jade Dilley (Kelly). Co-parenter and forever friend to Jacqueline Horn (Dennis Jr.), father figure to Anthony Alvarez, longtime partner of Brenna Bard, best friend to Gina Bruno, life-long friend to Mary Lakas and ally to many more.

A born and raised Chicagoan, proud of his Southside Irish roots, Dennis called Bridgeport home and invested time building life-long friendships within his community. Even though he had wild streak we all love, Dennis believed in security, often checking in on his neighbors, friends and family. A true 2^nd amendment supporter, he even headed up his own neighborhood watch. Offenders were threatened via the very effective ‘silencer’ method and some signature, colorful language!

Dennis loved fixing things, taking apart and putting back together anything he could get his hands on. In addition to his daytime gig as a truckdriver, he was a mechanic, handy-man, a comedian, story-teller extraordinaire, walking canvas, unknown beautician, a chef (yes, he knew it), the best dog dad you’ll ever meet, a man who loved to ride his hog in a Toys-for-tots drive, had great passion for music – the good kind.  A multi-talented, creative genius at best.

Better than his talents were his listening skills and generosity. A cheerleader who sent you from his house with a cool gadget for everyone in the family and the best wishes. Dennis was genuine; his ability to be himself in every setting easily made him the life of the party. Who can forget his epic fireworks and boxes of beef sandwiches?! His large stature and 1000-watt smile were the perfect place to house his big heart. We will love him forever, never stop missing him and reminisce about him often.
