Dorothy Kini, a long time Palatine resident, passed away on Saturday September 23,
She was born on October 11, 1941 in Penshaw, England to Cuthbert John Willis Henry
and Mary Adie Henry.
Dorothy worked as a Nurse for Cook County Department of Public Health for many
years. She enjoyed her time working there and made many life-long friends. Dorothy
liked to use her skills to help others and had traveled to the Dominican Republic, Peru
and other locations to volunteer in free nursing clinics for women and children.
An animal lover she even traveled to Northern Canada to see polar bears in their
natural habitat. Her house was always the home to multiple dogs and cats. She
especially enjoyed Golden Retrievers so much so that she fostered multiple goldens in
her home….adopting almost all of them.
Her real joy was her family. She loved her two sons. David (Kimberly) and Michael
(Karen) along with her six amazing grandchildren. Mallory, Kathleen, Emily, Matthew,
Claire and Andrew. She was proud of all of them.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. The family suggests those who
desire to remember Dorothy to please make a contribution in her memory to the As
Good As Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois.
Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
