Emblem

Here rests Douglas MacArthur Pendergrass, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and cherished friend. Born in the small town of Matoka, West Virginia, Doug carried the values of home, hard work, and heart throughout his life. He passed peacefully on June 16, 2025, in Melrose Park, Illinois.

A U.S. Army veteran and retiree of Brach’s Candy Corporation, Doug was a man of grit and loyalty. He was a passionate outdoorsman—an avid hunter and fisherman who found solace in the woods and on the water. Just as fiercely, he rooted for his Chicago Cubs, a die-hard fan through and through.

Doug was everything a man could be: a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, dependable brother and uncle, and a lifelong friend to many. His life was defined by generosity, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and the simple joy of a well-cast line.
