Eric Frank Mayer

Eric Frank Mayer, 44, of Palatine, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 29, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born on July 4, Eric carried a deep sense of patriotism throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of William Fremd High School in Palatine, where he played soccer, before earning his degree from the University of Iowa.

 Above all else, Eric was a devoted father. His daughter, Eleanor, was the center of his world, and there was nothing he loved more than being her dad. He treasured every moment they spent together and found his greatest joy in watching her grow.

Eric approached life with a sharp wit, a generous spirit, and an infectious passion for living. He had an amazing ability to connect with people from all walks of life in a genuine and often humorous way. He was a loyal friend, a loving son and brother, and someone who valued time with family and friends above all else. Whether cheering on a soccer match, listening to live music, sharing stories and laughter, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Eric had a way of making every gathering brighter.

Eric is survived by his beloved daughter, Eleanor; his parents, Grace and Michael; his brother, Jason; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Eric's strength, humor, kindness, and unwavering love for those closest to him will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date, and details will be shared with family and friends as they become available. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that was especially meaningful to Eric.

Though his life ended far too soon, Eric's love, laughter, courage, and the countless memories he created will remain a lasting gift to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
