Erik R. Yehl, 25, of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2025.
Beloved brother of Ethan. Devoted son of Kirsten and Brian. Cherished grandson of Marilyn and Charles. Treasured nephew of Kathryn, Karl (Molly), and Lisa (David). Dear cousin of Elliot, Jacob, Alexander, Soren, and Saoirse.
To all who knew him, Erik was a deep thinker, a true history enthusiast, and the most genuine person to share a beer and a thoughtful conversation with. He had a strong sense of humor and an open ear that gave him a profound respect for every point of view. A philosopher at heart, Erik’s reflections on life, sports, and Tolkien fiction left a lasting impression on those around him.
He was a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions and the Chicago White Sox—teams that, like many of us, will surely miss his unwavering support.
Erik loved the outdoors and spent much of his working life close to nature, gardening or tending to the local harbors. Always ready to lend a hand and quick with a warm smile, he brought light and kindness wherever he went.
He will be deeply missed by many.
