Ernest Alan Rients

Ernest Alan Rients, 78, a native of Flanagan, passed away on Jan 17, at Carlton Skilled Nursing facility in Chicago. He was the son of George Clarence and Neva (Askew) Rients. He was preceded in death by parents, and is survived by his brother, Earl (Betty) Rients of Pontiac, his nephew Eric Rients, Pontiac, niece Kim (Chris) Blair, Riverside, IL and three great nieces. Ernest attended Flanagan elementary and high school, and was a graduate of ISU with a teaching degree in French. He taught at Lewiston High School for 12 years before moving to Chicago. Ernest was an accomplished pianist, organist and played the French horn. He played organ at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Flanagan for many years. He enjoyed following the Cubs and the White Sox. The family has requested a private gravesite burial. Memorials may be made at the donor's discretion.
