Ernest T. Ross, 91, passed peacefully in his sleep early Thursday morning, October 8, 2020, in Chicago, Illinois. Ross, as he was known to most, was born in Yorktown, Texas on August 5, 1929. He is survived by his three daughters; Carla M. Ross, Dana C. Moore, Paula L. (Jerry) Alford and his son Aaron T. Ross; and 6 grandchildren; Christopher T. Ross, Tyler Marie Alford, Kellyn Alford, Gabrielle Alford, Maxwell Alford, and Joshua Ross.
Ross was an honored US Army Veteran; serving in World War II and Korea. He completed his undergraduate studies at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA in 1956 and earned his Masters of Arts from the University of Notre Dame in 1959. A nationally recognized artist who has many sculptures in museums, college campuses, and private collections around the country, including a piece in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. He went on to teach in Ivy Tech in South Bend and later William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri; then worked as an independent artist for much of his life.
He will be missed by his family, countless friends and colleagues.
When possible to do so, the family will arrange a celebration of his life.
