Evelyn Hunter

April 23, 1943 — July 17, 2021

On Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 12:15 am, Evelyn Hunter, following a short battle with lung cancer, passed away at the age of 78. Evelyn was born on April 23, 1943, and was the only daughter to her late mother Leslie Mayfield, and was the apple of her mother’s eye.
Evelyn was baptized and a member of Greater Harvest Baptist Church in Chicago. She was joined in holy matrimony to Hammie E. Hunter and from that union was blessed with two sons, Keith E. Hunter and Steven L. Hunter.
Evelyn was employed with Continental Bank for a number of years. After that, she became a certified nursing assistant. She was a kind, compassionate, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband (Hammie E. Hunter) her mom (Leslie Mayfield) and her brother (Larry Thompson). She is survived by her brother Alfred Mayfield, her sons Keith (Sheila), and Steven (Laticia). Her grandchildren, Brianna Elizabeth, Lauren, Tayler, Christopher Montgomery, Hailey, and Mariah Nicolette.
Also, her sisters-in-law Joan Sullivan, Gwen Rollins, and Connie Ward. Along with one aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be missed and will always be remembered by those of us who loved her dearly.
The Memorial Dinner will be held in her honor on August 8, at The Barrel Club Restaurant located at 4910 W 111th St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. The dinner/service will start at 4:00 pm.
