Evelyn Mae Schmidt

Our dear Mother, Evelyn Mae (Rugen) Schmidt of Sunrise in Buffalo Grove and former resident of Mt. Vernon in Bradenton, Florida passed away peacefully with family by her side on December 28, 2022.

Born in Glenview, Illinois to the Rugen family on May 5, 1926, she died after a very happy life of 96 years.  She was a wonderful mother and she had many friends in her Mt. Vernon community and was well loved at Sunrise in Buffalo Grove. She enjoyed her bridge and bingo!! She married Dick Schmidt in 1947 and spent 45 years with him fishing and dancing until his passing in 1992.

She is survived by her children, Sandy (Schmidt) Ballantini and husband Ron, Jackie (Schmidt) LeVernier and husband Sam Sides, and Ron and wife Lisa (Wolf) Schmidt.  Her cherished grandchildren are Lisa (Lindell) Popjoy and husband Christopher Popjoy, Cory and Courtney (Collins) Ballantini, Rebecca LeVernier, Max Schmidt and Sam Schmidt as well as her Great Grandchildren, Julia and Beau Lindell, and Graham and Wells Ballantini.  She is survived by her sister Beverly (Rugen) Kostera and her husband John and Sister-in-Law, Shirley Rugen.  Evie was preceded in death by her brother Lloyd (Mickey) Rugen and William and Emily Rugen, her parents.
