Frank Jakob Traub, 67, of Skokie, is at peace on March 11, 2025, after battling multiple health issues. The Loving son of Joseph Traub (d.1962) and Therese Bauer (d. 2024) and cherished stepson of Joseph Bauer. Dear brother to Kristina (Kurt) Lundgren and Elizabeth (Peter) Zieger and loving Uncle to Emily Zieger, Alexander Lundgren, Jennifer Zieger and Kathryn Lundgren. The devoted and loving Dog Daddy to his deaf dog, Yoshi. Adored cousin and friend to many.
Frank was born in Chicago, growing up in the Ravenswood and Hollywood Park neighborhoods. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School, spent 3 years at St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin, finishing his high school years at Lane Technical High School in Chicago. He went on to study at DeVry Institute He worked as a glass installer eventually becoming the plant manager. He spent several years running his own business after the recession in 2008 called Frank of All Trades. Health issues caused him to retire early.
In his younger years Frank had a love for the outdoors enjoying camping, atv off-roading and fishing. He looked forward to his annual fishing trips to northern Ontario, Canada with friends. He spent many years snow skiing enjoying trips to Colorado, northern Michigan and Lake Tahoe, California. He even learned to scuba dive, taking several trips to the Caribbean. Frank was very proud of the vacation home he had shared with his parents in Mauston, WI. It was a great gathering spot for many generations of family that built lifelong and cherished memories. Frank especially loved feeding the wild birds in Wisconsin with orioles and hummingbirds being his favorites. He loved to observe the wildlife like the deer, wild turkey and occasional coyote that frequented the area.
His ashes will be privately laid to rest with his father at Saint Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.
