Fredric Bayard Goldboss

Fredric “Fred” Bayard Goldboss, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

LIFE AND LEGACY

Born on September 13, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Fred was the son of the late Earl and Edith (Bayard) Goldboss. After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in history, he returned to the Midwest to begin his career at Walter E. Heller Industrial Financial. It was there that he met the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Angela Laurie. He later transitioned to the family business, where he successfully ran the Chicago Furniture Mart.

Fred spent his life creating deep roots in Highland Park and Deerfield. Although he worked long hours he always found time to spend with his family. Known for his warm smile, gentle spirit, and kind nature, he went by many affectionate nicknames, including Freddy, Mr. G., G Fun Fred, Scropper and Papa. An insatiable reader, Fred devoured the written word and was rarely seen without a book in his hand—unless he
was playing or watching sports.

His Children: Lisa Sullivan (Michael), Tony Goldboss (Susan), and Daniel
Goldboss (Jenny)
And his grandchildren: Matthew, Katie, Jackie, Jazz, Reese, and Lana

Celebration of Life: Sunday, September 13, 2026 (his 88th birthday) in Saginaw, Michigan.
Memorial Donations: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.

As Fred would always say, “That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.”
