Frieda Twadell, 94, of Burbank, IL, passed away on September 25, 2021. Frieda grew up the daughter of Polish immigrants in St. Bruno Parish in the Brighton Park neighborhood of Chicago. As a young woman she was a member of the Young People’s Club at St. Gall Parish. It was there she met and married her husband of 63 years, Ken. Numerous marriages were formed within the Club and Ken and Fritz remained friends with the couples they met there throughout their lives.
After purchasing a home in St. Albert the Great Parish in Burbank, Ken and Fritz raised a family consisting of three children. Katherine, Kenneth Jr. and Kevin. Many a Christmas card over the years was signed “Ken, Fritz, and the 3K’s.” After a temporary absence Ken and Fritz moved back to their Burbank home where Fritz continued to reside until the time of her death.
Ken and Fritz were active in a number of community and parish associations. In one notable example Fritz is remembered as having displayed her vocal abilities in the parish talent show, singing selections from “Annie Get Your Gun” in a duet with friend and neighbor Grace Lahey.
Frieda is survived by her children, Kathy (Jim) Foreman, Kenny (the late Amy) Twadell, and Kevin (Heidi) Twadell; grandchildren Dan (Megan) Foreman, Lindsay Foreman, Tom (Ashley) Nemec and Sammi Cook; great grandchildren Lilly, Raelynn, Sonja and Eliza; by great niece Erin (Mike) Lazzara and their family, and by Andy Curti.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ken; her parents, Michael and Anna (nee Wierkowski) Bojarski; her brother Chester Bojarski, nephew Larry Bojarski and dear niece Barabra Bojarski Hook.
Frieda was a supporter of women’s rights before it was recognized as a cause, making sure that her daughter had access to the same opportunities as her sons did.
