Naperville

Genevieve M. Williams, 96, of Naperville (formerly of Milwaukee, WI) at rest August 16th 2023. Beloved wife of the late Ervin Dale (2004). Loving mother of Marianne (Scott) Schultz. Dear sister of the late Thomas John (Jackie Schenck) Serocki. Cherished aunt of Sari, Jim, and Paul.

Genevieve (Mom) was a dedicated 30 year volunteer at Serendipity, a landmark in downtown Naperville on Jefferson Street (across from Front Street Cantina).  She loved the people they served and was committed to make a difference through her work at the resale shop.  She loved serving there with her longtime friend Helen Slusser, who preceded her in her journey to Heaven.  Serendipity supports Little Friends, an organization dedicated to the mission of empowering children and adults with special challenges, and their families, to live fulfilling lives in their community.  Little Friends:  https://www.littlefriendsinc.org/support/

Her love of antiques, fine jewelry, and the beautiful collection of Native American crafted pieces began in 1946 when she married Ervin.  Trailblazing in their interracial marriage they both endured and persevered through many issues of racism and scorn.  She was truly proud of his Oneida/Ojibway heritage which led them to adopt a Native American baby, Marianne.

She was a Iifelong student and attended College of DuPage in the early 70’s; loved jewelry making class, psychology and art history.  She was a lifelong Believer and studied many world religions.  In her travels she made sure to visit many different churches and houses of worship to learn more and meet new people. She loved to paint, sculpt, make hats and pheasant feather hat bands from birds hunted by Ervin.

Having only one child, she was blessed with a son that Marianne brought home to them 44 years ago.  Scott took good care of her with assistance in navigating tax filing, medical billing, and other fun endeavors.

She loved animals, especially her dog Lady - she knew they would be reunited in Heaven.  She loved her grand dogs Maggie, Manele, Koele, Violet Rose and Ipolani. She was kind and generous her entire life to so many.

A private interment will be held in Lake Mills, WI

Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, IL
