George (Geo) Valentich

George (Geo) Valentich, 71, of Crystal Lake, Illinois and formerly of Carpentersville, Illinois, after a valiant battle with leukemia, peacefully passed March 19, 2026 with his beloved Joan never leaving his bedside. 

Geo is survived by his loving partner of 30 years, Joan Barango; cherished stepson Keith (Stephanie) Barango and stepdaughter Kristin Barango; treasured grandchildren Julian Barango and Olivia Barango, who affectionally referred to him as "Boompa"; dear sisters Robin Bailey Andersen, Paulette (Jimmy) Phillips, Florette Camarata and Anntoinette Hudson; adored niece Naomi Muirhead and great-nephew Sebastian; and many, many friends. Geo was preceded in death by parents Rudy and Lucy. 

Geo worked in telecommunications for many years and was the tower erector for Chicago's iconic landmark The Sear's Tower. He was also a certified arborist and  later ran his own construction & tree trimming business. Geo was known to everyone as a jack of all trades. 

Geo was a big fan of Rugby and played for several years. He loved to travel and was an avid golfer and boater - enjoying these activities with his partner Joan.  He will be deeply missed.
