Georgia M. Jones

Georgia M. Jones, 84, of Chicago's Belmont-Cragin area, went home to be with our Lord October 25, 2025.

Georgia began her life in Arkansas, the 3rd of 12 children born to Frank and Jessie Echols.  She later moved to Chicago, where she raised her family in Cabrini-Green. Georgia was a hard worker and retired from her  marketing position at Illinois Bell in 1994.  She is remembered for her beautiful and angelic voice, singing first soprano in both her church and work choirs. Georgia remained a dedicated parishioner at Union Baptist Church in Chicago.

She leaves behind her beloved children Sharon Scott, Darlene (Joseph Sr.) Blakemore, Anthony Jones and Raleigh Harris; loving grandchildren Bobby Jones, Kamesha Blakemore, William Gray IV, Solomon Scott, Dameka Blakemore, Alexander Scott and Joseph Blakemore Jr.; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Georgia is preceded in death by her daughter Charlene Jones, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. 

A celebration of her life to be announced.
