Georgia Maisel, née Rogatz, a distinguished interior designer, antique dealer, and accomplished business owner of both a clothing shop and antique dealing, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Highland Park, Illinois. Born on January 18, 1935, in Chicago, Georgia’s life was marked by a profound dedication to her craft, her family, and her community.

Throughout her prolific career, Georgia brought elegance and a distinct aesthetic to countless homes and businesses, combining her eye for design with an appreciation for history through her antique dealings. Her entrepreneurial spirit was evident in her successful ownership and operation of a clothing shop, reflecting both her business acumen and her passion for style.

Beyond her professional achievements, Georgia was deeply involved in the Northbrook community. She contributed enthusiastically to local organizations, including serving as a key figure in promoting the Northbrook Ice Skating Complex’s annual ice shows and cast parties, events that brought joy and unity to many. Her zeal for racquetball showcased her vibrant and energetic approach to life.

Her life journey included residence in Evergreen Park and Northbrook, Illinois, where she nurtured strong relationships and helped foster a sense of community. Georgia was beloved by family and friends for her warmth, grace, and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Maisel, to whom she was married for 25 years, and by Bruce Rogatz and Lois Rogatz, her sister-in-law. Her legacy lives on in her devoted family: her children, Michele Maisel and Harry Maisel; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Maisel; and her grandchildren, Ashley Maisel, Carly Maisel, Julia Maisel, and Anna Maisel. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Karen Livingston and Janet Rogatz, and nephews, Mitchell Rogatz and Matthew Rogatz, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

A Celebration of Life honoring Georgia’s remarkable journey will be held on May 27, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM at 700 Vernon Ave in Glencoe, Illinois. This gathering will serve as a testament to her enduring impact on those who knew her.
