Georgiana Gates

July 8, 1953 — April 20, 2022

Georgiana Gates, 68 of Jefferson Park passed away on April 20th after a year long battle with cancer.

Georgiana was a kind soul. She was very easy to talk to, and was always there to listen and offer advice. Anywhere she went she was capable of making friends with anybody regardless of background.

Loving mother of Megan Dugo, Aaron Gates and Ian Gates. Cherished grandma of Vincent, Joseph and Brittany. Dearest sister of Robin Guelespe and dear friend to many. Georgiana always wanted the very best for her children. She enjoyed dining with family at local restaurants like The Big Top and Cozy Corner.

Georgiana was a former import/export employee at Unilever, she started as a file clerk and worked hard to climb the corporate ladder to get to her position.

Georgiana loved animals and owned many different kinds throughout her life. She had many laughs looking at and sharing funny and cute animal videos. She would tend to her garden and grow vegetables and flowers, and during her downtime she would love to watch Lifetime dramas and Gordon Ramsay on the TV or play videogames with her son.

Georgiana lived by Christian values and always tried to notice and bring out the best in people.

She will be missed, but our hearts will always have a place for all the beautiful memories we share with her. We have lost a heart of gold, but Heaven has gained a loving soul.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 3-5 pm at Cooney Funeral Home, 3918 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL 60618.

Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
