Gladys Velez

Gladys Velez, age 75, passed away on March 29, 2026. She was born on May 31, 1950, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to the late Felicita Medina.

Gladys lived in Santurce and Humacao, Puerto Rico, as well as in Connecticut, before spending the last 50 years in Chicago, including the past 20 years in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

She worked as a childcare provider and was known for her care and dedication to the children she cared for. In her free time, she enjoyed watching television, especially Telemundo, and reruns of Wonder Woman and Superman.

Gladys was spiritual in her own way, though not affiliated with a specific church.

She is survived by her brother, Mariano Rosario.
