Henry Smith

Henry Smith, 78, passed away on September 20, 2026, leaving behind his beloved family, friends, and countless memories. Born December 30, 1947, in Beniot, Mississippi, Henry was the son of Herman Smith Sr. and Mary Smith. He moved to Chicago at a young age, where he was raised by his uncle, Sam. He attended Hirsch High School, later earned his GED, and continued his education at Prairie State College, where he studied hydraulics.

Henry was known for his remarkable ability to fix almost anything. He worked for decades at Interlake Steel, later Acme Steel Company, before becoming an appliance repair technician for Sears. He enjoyed motorcycles, Westerns, good food, and learning new things, but above all, he was a fun-loving family man who cherished his children and grandchildren.

In 2005, Henry married Lasharon Williams, the woman he loved and remained devoted to until the end of his life. Henry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lasharon; children Horace (Camiel), Tracy (Robert), Brandi, and Anthony (Latrice); grandchildren Asia, Simone, Lyric, Joshua, and Isaac Bonus children MarQuitta, LaDonna (preceded him in his passing), (Lamont) bonus grandchildren Christopher, LaQuawn, Lamont Jr, Kayla, and Timothy brother James Walker; and a host of extended family and friends.

He will be remembered for his resourcefulness, humor, love of family, and willingness to help those around him.
