Hotoniel Vasquez

Hotoniel Vasquez, often known as Tony, of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully at the age of 64 on the morning of December 21st. After a seemingly long battle with heart issues, he was surrounded by his children as he made his way to heaven. He is survived by his ex-wife and 4 children - Sara, Aubrey, Zoë, and Tony. He was a beloved brother, father, uncle, and great-uncle to many. 

 

Tony was born to Carmen Lydia and Felix Vasquez in Chicago, IL. Born and raised in the Pilsen neighborhood, he was the third of 7 children. Four of which survive him today - Angel, Mary (Marybelle), Jose, and Maggie. His siblings Albert and Hilda preceded him in death. He raised his own family in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the Northside of Chicago. 

 

As an avid fisherman and griller, he spent spring and summer months sitting by lake Michigan and fishing in Plainfield or Cul Sag Quarry. He was the life of the party in any room he walked into. Tony loved to bust a move (though not very good), do a handstand, and make everyone laugh with his cheesy jokes. When he wasn’t out and about, he spent time cooking for family and friends or caring for his beloved 7 year old goldfish. 

 

A private memorial service will be held in early spring 2023.
