Howard L. Crawford Sr.

Howard L. Crawford, Sr., 98, passed away on Dec. 14, 2025, in Chicago, IL. He was born in Webster County, GA. as one of 9 children - Thomas, Jr., Lionel, Jones, Rogers, George, Earnestine, Doraethel, and twin brother, Harry – to Thomas Crawford, Sr. and Gertrude (Lloyd) Crawford. He was married to Minnie B. (Evans) Crawford and had 7 children – Betty (Rory, Sr.) Woody, Martha (Frank, Sr.) Brown, Rose (Peter) Shneebeli, Brenda (Charles) Overton, Jacqueline (Maurice) Horton, Howard, Jr. (Irma) Crawford, and Latunya Simmons. He was a proud United States Army veteran and received a Purple Heart for his military service. He enjoyed spending time with family, spirited debates, reading, and drawing. He eventually converted to, and walked in faith, as a Hebrew Israelite. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter (Brenda), and all siblings except his sister (Doraethel). Howard leaves behind a host of family – a sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even 2 great-great grandchildren. He was immensely loved and will be deeply missed.
