Jacob James Long

Fort Collins

Jacob James Long of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away May 24, 2025 at the age of 39.

Jacob (Jake) was born August 28, 1985 in Denver, CO to his loving parents Robert and Cindy Long. Jake graduated from Rocky Mountain High School with many close friends. He completed an Associate of Science degree at Front Range Community College. He later attended Colorado State University and was on the Dean’s List.

Jake was a truly brilliant spirit with a glowing smile for all he met. His family and close friends often referred to him as “Nature Boy” for his preference to be out outside. As he grew up, Jake carried on jovially outside - he lived an unconventional life with conviction. His curiosity attracted him to travel extensively (preferably by train or foot). Along his journeys he befriended many people, and animals, and sought out meaningful conversations. Jake had grit - he worked hard to pay his way whether it was farming, carpentry, building or painting. His family fondly remembers him for his companionship, ability to discuss any topic, recollection of facts, and passion for learning.

He is survived by his father, Robert Long, his mother, Cindy Long, his step-mother Lauren Long, his adoring brothers - Bob (Tessa) Long, Tommy (Lindsey) Long and Cody Dunn - his niece, Penelope Long, and nephew, Harrison James Long.

Please join us in celebrating his life on Sunday June 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Fort Collins City Park, 1599 City Park Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80521 - Northwest of Sheldon Lake and the City Pool.
