James A. Hauff, a happy-go-lucky man known for his corny jokes and warm spirit, passed away on October 2, 2025, in Oak Park, Illinois. He was born on May 19, 1937, and lived a life full of joy and laughter. Jim spent most of his years in Valparaiso, Indiana, with short stays in Fisher, Indiana, and Oak Park.
Jim had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought him happiness. He was deeply involved in his church and loved music, including church hymns, classical pieces, and big band tunes. He enjoyed trains and bike riding, often taking the time to savor a pint of beer. Traveling to England was another passion of his, and he cherished time spent tending to his vegetable garden.
He is survived by his two children, Anthony (Janinne) Hauff and Patrick Hauff, along with his grandchildren, Anthony DiNardo and Nicolas Hauff and hiis brother, Thomas Hauff.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian Hauff, with whom he shared a loving marriage for 51 years, and by his parents, Alice and Vernon Hauff. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his infectious laughter and will truly be missed.
