James Willie Lee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on May 1, 1935, James lived a vibrant life marked by creativity and love.
For an impressive 40 years, James dedicated himself to the art of interior design and painting as part of Bobbe & Co. His work was not just a career but a passion that showcased his talent and artistry. He was a proud member of the Executives' Club of Chicago and actively participated in his community as a parishioner of St. Agatha Catholic Church.
A resident of Lake Providence, Louisiana, Chicago, and Oak Park, James enjoyed a rich family life. He shared 42 wonderful years with his loving wife, Phyllis. Together, they nurtured their family, which includes their children: James Jr., Debra, Anthony, Valarie, Sharon, and Tracy. James was also a doting granddad, great grandad, and great-great grandad of 27, all of whom cherished his presence in their lives.
In addition to his family, James had a close circle of best friends, including Bill, Lee, and Bobby. He found joy in simple pleasures such as watching golf and football, sharing laughter and stories with those he loved.
James is preceded in death by his siblings, Matt and Joe. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, creativity, and love will continue to inspire those who knew him.
