James J. Lyons

August 26, 1961 — May 6, 2024

James J. Lyons, aged 62, died on May 6, 2024. He was born August 26, 1961. Beloved son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Jim was born and raised in Dolton, and grew up in the St. Mary's Assumption Parish, Riverdale, IL. Jim graduated from Thornridge High School in 1979. He was the husband of (the late Ginger Swearingen); the devoted son of Betty (nee Bower) and the late Frank "Pat" Lyons II, step-son of the late David Geary and the late John Malmrose. He was the dear brother of the late Pat Lyons III, Lisa (Russ) Calabrese, Michael Lyons (Linda), the late Peggy Lyons-Hunt (Bob) and Tom (Michele) Lyons; step-brother of David (Carol) Geary, Diane (Tom) Wroblewski, the late Dale and Jane Geary, Dana (Spencer) Williams, Doreen (John) Lawrence and Rosemarie (Chris) Benson. He is also survived and loved by many nieces and nephews.

Jim served in the US Navy on the USS America (CV 66) Master Helmsman. Jim was awarded the following: Deployment Ribbon (w/star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation.
