James Anthony Sifuentes

James Anthony Sifuentes, born on September 25, 1963, passed away on July 15, 2026. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him and his memory will be cherished for years to come.

James spent his formative years in the Back of the Yards neighborhood and later lived in Garfield Ridge, both in Chicago, 

Professionally, James was a dedicated and accomplished Regional Manager at the Chicago Park District. His leadership, vision, and commitment to public service had a lasting impact on the parks and neighborhoods throughout the city. 

James is survived by his loving spouse, Sonya Martinez, and their two daughters, Amanda Sifuentes-Smith and Sadie Sifuentes. His devotion to his family was unmistakable, and he took great joy in supporting and guiding his daughters throughout their lives.

He is also survived by a large and close-knit family, including his brothers Sandra Sifuentes, David Sifuesntes, John Sifuentes, Joe Sifuentes, Richard Sifuentes, Marie Sifuentes, William Sifuentes, Cindy Sifuentes, Maria Sifuentes, and additional siblings Margaret Vasuez and Fred Vazquez. Diane Sifuentes is also among those who mourn his passing.

James Anthony Sifuentes leaves behind a legacy defined by service, community, and enduring familial love. He will be greatly missed and remembered with deep respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
