Jameson Leland Kevin Cunigan

December 17, 1983 — July 9, 2023

Danville

Jameson Leland Kevin Cunigan, 39, of Danville Illinois passed away on July 9, 2023. Jameson
was the adoring father of Kai Yanae Cunigan, Jameson Yeshua Brunton, and Jamie Anne Yamina
Brunton. He was also the beloved brother of Kimberly Marion, Jamese Foster, Anjenee Marion
and Ja'Nelle Marion. Loving  son of the late Renee Cunigan- Marion and Dennis Marion.
Jameson was a Handyman by trade and the human equivalent of a chameleon. He could melt
into any social situation and command a room if need be. He was talented in the craft of, “help
me, help you, help me.” At the tender age of 8, he was charging kids on the playground to play
with him. Some of his hobbies ranged from baseball, basketball, football, choir, gaming, coding,
LARPing, and he was an excellent cook.
Jameson went to Holy Family School and was an alter server for the church and parish attached
to it. He served often for the church, including funerals and would do the readings at mass. He
was a part of so many engineering and merit programs at Danville High School. Jameson was an
impeccable chess athlete and during an interview his senior year, in his own words, “I have
been playing chess since I was 4. I enjoy the competition because it makes me better.” He
continued his education at Central State University (HBCU) in Wilberforce, Ohio.
Siblings always remember things differently from one another, but when our stories lined up,
the laughs were endless; and we’d revert back to old nicknames. Ja’Nelle would be “Beanie” or
“Jem,” I was either “Pork Chop,” or “Orange Peel,” and he was “Jamo” or “Jaypen.” The good
times with dance parties to Mariah Carey music, sneaking into movies and playing video games
are far behind us. In the end, he still was a protector, a cheerleader, and a phone call away
when life seemed muddled.
He had 3 beautiful kids that he genuinely loved in the best way he could. He wanted the world
for them, but that was like him trying to understand the sum of cubes… x3+y3+z3=k. His soul is
at peace and reunited with our mom. It may have been too soon, but I know the gravity here on
earth feels heavier in her absence. His aunts will miss him. His cousins will remember all of the
good stuff and Grandma Arrington made sure he knew he was loved.

The family has requested charitable donations made in Jameson's name be directed to
SAFE project.
