It is with deep sorrow & much love that I announce the passing of Jeffrey James Kovarik, 66, of Wonder Lake Il on June 16, 2026.
Born in Chicago on September 11,1959. Graduating from St.Linus School, Oak Lawn , attending Brother Rice HS, Chicago & graduating in 1977 from Forest View High School,Arlington Heights, Il.
An avid Chicago sports fan. Jeff could tell you every single detail & statistic of every single Cubs player of any year. He would also tell you the Cubs Absolutely still have a chance to win even if they were losing 20-1. He always predicted they would make the playoffs and, of course, possibly the World Series. Making it also very clear the White Sox would never come close .
Then football season comes and again Jeff would predict the outcome of every game & how superior the Bears were over any other team, especially the Green Bay Packers. Even after a 3 game losing streak he was always optimistic of the Bears still having a chance for the Super Bowl.
If Jeff had your phone number, be prepared for a barrage of texts regarding Cubs, Bears , Bulls & of course , the weather, all detailed in as many words as "War & Peace".
All Jeff wanted was a friend to talk to & I'm grateful to all who gave their kindness in listening to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John & NancyLee(Coe) Kovarik, his grandparents Bert & Bernice ( Stumpf) Coe, his Uncle Jack Coe & many other family members. He is survived by his sister, Pamela (Kovarik) Ktsanes . His two nieces & nephew Haley, Jacob & Cassidy Ktsanes.
His longtime friend,Michelle Stayduhar. And ,of course, his cousin, Rick Kennedy, who spent timeless hours on the phone with Jeff listening to his rhetoric of all the Cubs & Bears trivia.
