John "Kieran" Heraty

August 19, 1945 — October 4, 2022

John "Kieran" Heraty was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He left this world too soon on October 4, 2022 at age 77, in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born to Michael and Mary Heraty on August 19, 1945 in Cork City, Ireland. Raised in Kilmacthomas and later Midleton, he moved to the US at the age of 25 to be with the love of his live, Joanne. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and together they had four children who he took such pride in.

Kieran was an avid world traveler, camper, fisherman, cruiser, soccer player, coach, confidant, and mentor to so many. Impossible to sum up in words, he was a true gent, charming, with a sense of humor that put a smile on everyone's face. Our social and diplomatic ambassador.

Survived by his spouse and best friend, Joanne, his children: Kerry (John) Shkor, Sean (Tami) Heraty, Deirdre (Matt) Renner, Colleen (Jerry) Magee; eight grandkids: Finn and Rowan Shkor, Ryland, Kaylee, and Bryce Renner, Kiera, Fiona, and Liam Magee; brothers Ray and Dermot (Gay) Heraty, sister Marie Heraty, and many nieces and nephews in Ireland and the US.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 10th from 4-7pm at Moretti's in Barrington.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
