José “Pepe” Cadre, beloved brother of Manuel and Seni Cadre, passed away after a prolonged illness at the age of 85 in Wheeling, Illinois. Pepe immigrated from Cuba in the 1980s and started a new life here in the United States by working as a maintenance man with his brother, Manuel. He had several maintenance and custodial jobs throughout his working life and eventually retired in the early 2000s. Pepe spent his free time after retirement attending church services, socializing with friends, and donating to various charities. In 2019 he developed an illness that hospitalized him for a prolonged period, necessitating nursing home care afterwards.
Pepe was a kind, gentle soul, who always had a smile on his face, and, despite not having much, always gave what he had and was always willing to help anyone in need. Although he never married, his brother’s families became his family and he enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews and all their children.
Pepe’s kindness, generosity, and beaming smile will be sorely missed by his surviving nieces, nephews, and their children. Funeral services will be private.
Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
