Jose Vasquez

July 13, 1964 — February 17, 2023

Jose Vasquez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and great uncle, passed away on February 17, 2023, at the age of 58. He was born in Chicago and raised in the Pilsen neighborhood.

Jose was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Blanca Gonzalez Vasquez, and together they raised five beautiful daughters, Yolanda Vasquez (spouse Rodolfo Almanza), Monica Lydia Vasquez (spouse Jose J. Cruz), Bianca Vasquez (spouse Juan Ochoa), Virginia Santos Vasquez, Joanna Vasquez (spouse Juan Mancera). His legacy will live on through his six grandchildren,
Alyssa Almanza, Isabella Almanza, Alec Almanza, Abel Ezequiel Cruz, Anaiah Cruz, and Jayleen Bianca Marin.

Jose had a passion for fishing and could often be found along Lake Michigan, casting his line and enjoying the peaceful serenity of the water. He also loved fixing and building things, using his many tools and skills to improve the lives of those around him.

Above all else, Jose was always proud of his family and loved spending time with them. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make jokes, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He was proud to be an American and had a great appreciation for the country. His favorite past times included watching Seinfeld reruns, old Western movies, The Godfather trilogy, and The Shepherd’s Chapel live stream bible readings.

Jose is survived by his wife, five daughters, six grandchildren, and three siblings: Angel, Mary(Maribel), and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents Felix Vasquez and Carmen Lydia Vasquez, as well as his siblings Albert, Hilda, and Hotoniel.

Jose will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, and his love for his family. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service to celebrate Jose’s life will be held in spring of 2023. He will be forever missed but never forgotten.
