Joseph LaRue

November 15, 1925 — May 15, 2020

Joseph LaRue, 95, WWII Master Sargent U.S. Army of Chatham and formerly of Pocatello, Idaho, at rest May 15, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Muriel J. (2004). Loving father of Christine LaRue. Cherished brother of Mary (the late Homer) Watkins, the late Bernard Jacob (Shirley), Ben and Warren LaRue. Joseph was an accomplished organist who played in many a house of worship but praised God most Sundays at Metropolitan Community Church (41st & King). He mastered the four manual organ and enjoyed playing Johann Sebastian BachHe was one of the first African Americans to sing in the Chicago Symphony Chorus and was a well respected choir director. He was the first associate African American Dean at the Booth Graduate School of Business at University of Chicago. If you have ever experienced the architectural river cruise, you heard Joseph's words, as he wrote the docket. A private inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
