Joyce Marie Szot

Joyce Marie Szot, age 73, of Hoffman Estates, IL, was born in Chicago on December 19, 1945 to the late Ralph Szot and Marie (Zuber) Szot peacefully completed her life journey on Tuesday June 25 in her home with her loving children by her side. She was educated in the Chicago public schools and later went on to receive her BS and Masters in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. Joyce was employed by International Harvester and Beatrice Foods before becoming an independent IT consultant, specializing in accounting software. She was active in professional associations and local clubs. She was a lifelong learner, an avid gardener, and an animal lover. Joyce loved good food and socializing, enjoyed going to movies and educational programs. She had a passion for politics and progressive causes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eldest brother: Ralph Szot, Jr. Joyce was a devoted mother, and friend. She is survived by her son Shawn Sabbini of Palatine, IL, and her daughter Sunny Sabbini and her partner David Stanek of Pleasant Hill, CA. She also leaves grandson, Leonardo Sabbini who brought great joy to her later years. She is also survived by a brother, Gene and his wife Carol Szot, and nephews John (Liz) Szot, Doug (Pamela) Szot, Dwayne (Marianne) Szot; nieces Cheryl (Dan) Herrmann, Diana (George) Ludwig, Simone (Fred) Baillergeon, Holly (Dave) Nesky She also leaves several cousins and many close friends. A celebration of her life is planned for Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
