Karen A. Manner

Karen A. Manner, 65, of Arlington Heights passed away unexpectedly on Monday May 1, 2023.  Karen was the beloved wife of Steve Manner and the sister of Victoria Doornbos.  She worked as a legal secretary for many years and most recently was a solictor for the AMVETS, whose goal, according to their website is "to provide department and post level support that will culminate in vibrant and effective programs serving veterans and this nation’s citizens."  Karen was also very involved with caring for cats.  She had adopted several cats over the years that she cared for in her house.  She also though came across several feral cats that seemed to hang around her yard.  She began to feed them. They would not come into her home, so she and her husband built special houses in the yard that were lined with fleece blankets and had warming disks so that they could keep warm in the winter and got them medical attention if ill.  She and her husband also enjoyed horse racing, auto racing and traveling.  

 Her generous personal contributions to making the lives of animals and people better, will not be forgotten.
